Latest drawings by my Edinburgh-based pal, Tommy Perman. In his recent work, he has taken a look at the seedier side of the capital in this study of the frontages of this city's various 'saunas'. 'I liked the way they try to be discreet but fail by looking tacky and conspicuous'. Read more about the project and take a look at the the whole collection here.

Festival de Cannes 2013

The Festival de Cannes, now in its 66th year, began yesterday. The lovely Audrey Tautou (looking particularly sweet with a cracking new hairdo) began proceedings last night in her official role as master of ceremony. Other favourites so far include the 2013 poster, featuring Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman in A New Kind of Love (1963) and the 'one day, one drawing' by Le Monde cartoonist, Plantu. Looking forward to catching some of the films in my local Edinburgh independent cinemas, soon.

Leafing through the latest copy of Les Inrockuptibles, dedicated to the 40th Festivale d’Angoulême, I came across Quebec illustrator, Pascale Blanchet. Take a look; I reckon his stuff is cracking. Nice blog here, too.
